I accepted Christ as my Savior and I want to be water baptized. What’s next?

What is baptism?
Baptism is an illustration of Jesus’ burial and resurrection – A reflection of new life in Christ. Baptism does not make you a believer, but it demonstrates that you already believe. It’s important to understand that baptism cannot save you. You are saved by your faith in the finished work of Jesus on the cross.

Why should I be baptized in water?
Baptism is an outward demonstration of your testimony and faith. Jesus Christ Himself was baptized in water by immersion and we follow His example and His command to be baptized.

What if I was baptized as an infant?
Some churches baptize infants. Here at Champion we do not. We invite anyone to be baptized who has made their own personal decision to believe in Jesus and has chosen to follow Him the rest of their lives. We offer baby dedication service if you wish to make a commitment to raise your child in the faith and lead them to one day make their own decision. If you were baptized as an infant, we encourage you to be baptized by immersion in water as a believer.

What should I wear?
We will give you a t-shirt to be baptized in. We recommend you wear clothing that can get wet with your new t-shirt

Can my whole family be baptized together?
Yes, if each family member clearly understands the meaning of baptism and has placed their faith in Jesus, it would be an honor to baptize your whole family together.

Will I have to say anything?
You will have an opportunity to speak if you wish, but you don’t have to. We encourage you to invite all of your friends and family to celebrate with you.
